अभी तक हम अलग –अलग माध्यमों पर तरह –तरह का सिनेमा देखते आये हैं. क्या आपने कभी सोचा है कि जो सिनेमा हमें देखने को मिलता रहा है क्या उसके अलावा भी सिनेमा की कोई अलग दुनिया है. और यह भी कि सिनेमा की अलग दुनिया से आपका भी रिश्ता बन सकता है. दोस्तो, प्रतिरोध का सिनेमा अभियान सम्भावना ट्रस्ट के साथ मिलकर आगामी 18 से 21 नवम्बर हिमांचल के पालमपुर शहर में एक चार दिनी वर्कशॉप आयोजित कर रहा है जिसके लिए हम आपको न्योता दे रहे हैं. अगर आप कुछ ऐसा करते हैं जिसमे सिनेमा माध्यम आपके काम को आगे बढ़ाने में मददगार साबित हो सकता है तो आप जरुर यहाँ आयें. हम आपको सिनेमा की एक एकदम नयी दुनिया से परिचित करवाएंगे जिससे परिचित होने पर आपको शर्तिया मजा आएगा. यह जरुर है कि हम आपका परिचिय किसी नामचीन सिने सितारे से नहीं करवाने जा रहे हैं. लेकिन ऐसा नहीं है कि यहाँ जो लोग आपके साथ समय बियातेंगे वे महत्वपूर्ण नहीं है. वे महत्वपूर्ण भी हैं नामचीन भी लेकिन स्टार नहीं. इन चार दिनों के बाद आप पूरी तरह से इस सिनेमा माध्यम के प्रति उत्साहित होंगे और अपने इलाके से सिनेमा दिखाने के तकनीकी और कंटेंट उस्ताद भी बन जायेंगे. एक चीज और आपको मिलेगी और वह होगी देश के अलग –अलग इलाकों से आने वाले दूसरे उत्साही प्रतिभागियों का साथ जिनमे से हर कोई अपने –अपने क्षेत्र में कमाल का काम कर रहा है जैसे कि आप खुद भी. और दूसरी बात यह कि यहाँ की कमाल की लोकेशन जिसकी वजह से आपका दिल्दिमाग तरोताज़ा हो जाएगा. स्वागत है सिनेमा की अद्भुत दुनिया में.
कार्यशाला के उद्देश्य कार्यशाला का मुख्य उद्देश्य है प्रतिभागियों को इस नए और दस्तावेजी सिनेमा सन्दर्भ से परिचित करवाने के साथ –साथ उन्हें इसे अपनाने और आम जीवन में इसको लोकप्रिय बनाने के लिए प्रेरित करना भी है .

●नए हिन्दुस्तानी दस्तावेज़ी सिनेमा के जन संघर्षों के प्रति सहज झुकाव को समझना
स्रोत व्यक्ति
संजय काक एक स्वतंत्र दस्तावेजी फिल्म निर्माता और लेखक हैं, जिनके हालिया काम में रेड एंट ड्रीम (2013), जश्न-ए-आज़ादी (हाउ वी सेलिब्रेट फ्रीडम, 2007) और वर्ड्स ऑन वॉटर (2002) शामिल हैं।
संजय एक स्व-सिखाया फिल्म निर्माता और कभी-कभार कमेंट्री लिखते है, वह उन किताबों की समीक्षा करते है जिनसे वह जुडे हुए है। वह भारत में वृत्तचित्र सिनेमा आंदोलन और प्रतिरोध के सिनेमा परियोजना के साथ सक्रिय रहे हैं।
अमुधन आर.पी. एक दस्तावेजी फिल्म निर्माता और मीडिया कार्यकर्ता हैं। स्थानीय युवाओं के साथ, उन्होंने एक मीडिया सक्रियता समूह मारुपक्कम की स्थापना की, जो मदुरै और उसके आसपास दस्तावेज बनाने, नियमित स्क्रीनिंग, फिल्म समारोह और मीडिया कार्यशालाओं का आयोजन करने में शामिल है। उन्होंने 1998 में मदुरै अंतर्राष्ट्रीय दस्तावेजी और लघु फिल्म महोत्सव की स्थापना की।
संजय जोशी एक पूर्णकालिक सिनेमा ऑफ रेजिस्टेंस एक्टिविस्ट हैं और नवारुण प्रकाशन भी चलाते हैं।
फातिमा निजारुद्दीन एक अकादमिक और दस्तावेजी फिल्म निर्माता हैं। उन्होंने फिल्म न्यूक्लियर हेलुसिनेशन (2016) का निर्देशन किया है जो वेस्टमिंस्टर विश्वविद्यालय में उनकी अभ्यास-आधारित पीएच.डी. है। वह ए.जे.के. मास कम्युनिकेशन रिसर्च सेंटर, जामिया मिलिया इस्लामिया, नई दिल्ली में सहायक प्रोफ़ेसर हैं।
नकुल सिंह साहनी एक डाक्यूमेंट्री फिल्म निर्माता और ‘चल चित्र अभियान’ के संस्थापक हैं, यह एक मीडिया पहल है जो स्थानीय समुदाय के लोगो को अपने स्थानीय मुद्दों पर रिपोर्ट करने के लिए प्रशिक्षित करती है। सी.सी.ए. मुख्य रूप से लघु-दस्तावेज़ फिल्मों, समाचार कार्यक्रम और लाइव प्रसारण सहित वीडियो-आधारित सामग्री का उत्पादन करता है और यह उन समूहों में से एक है जो बड़े पैमाने पर किसान आंदोलन को कवर कर रहा है।
अश्वथी सेनन, स्वतंत्र शोधकर्ता, अनुवादक और सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता हैं। वह एक फिल्म उत्साही हैं और एक यात्रा फिल्म समारोह पहल, चलती तसवीरें की समन्वयक रही हैं ।
सौरभ कुमार एक मल्टीमीडिया पत्रकार और मुंबई, महाराष्ट्र के दस्तावेजी फिल्म निर्माता हैं। उन्होंने ओपिया फिल्म्स, एक स्वतंत्र प्रोडक्शन हाउस और पब्लिक बोलती की सह-स्थापना की, जो कोरोनवायरस लॉकडाउन के कारण होने वाले व्यवधानों को उजागर करने के लिए एक स्वतन्त्र नागरिको के नेतृत्व वाली पहल है। वह एक सांस्कृतिक पहल ‘सिनेमा ऑफ रेजिस्टेंस’ से गहराई से जुड़े हुए हैं, जिसका उद्देश्य सिनेमा और कला तक पहुंच बढ़ाना है जो समाज के सामने आने वाले मुद्दों से जुड़ा हुआ है।
यह कार्यशाला किसके लिए यह कार्यशाला उन व्यक्तियों और कार्यकर्ताओं के लिए काम की है जो मुख्यधारा के अलावा किसी और भी तरह के मीडिया विकल्पों के बारे में सोचते हों और उसकी निर्मिती, उसको देखने-दिखाने की प्रक्रिया पर चिंतन करना चाहते हैं

The Cinema of Resistance campaign in association with Sambhaavnaa Institute is organizing a four-day workshop on ‘Cinema of Resistance’ for film enthusiasts using the medium of documentary and alternate films. If you are involved in working with communities and want to use this medium to engage with the audience for political consciousness and raise issues pertaining to justice and democratic values, this workshop will equip you with the tools to do the same.
In spite of the access to free sources of cinema online and the overflow of material through various online portals, the kind of movies we end up watching are of a certain kind. How do we know about or see a world of cinema that is different from what is ‘provided’ to us? These four days with documentary filmmakers, cinephiles and members of cinema collectives will open the world to the joy and meaning of screening and watching films collectively.
Who can apply: We invite applications especially from those who are working with social movements across the country and learn how to use cinema to further your cause and vision.

Objectives of the Programme:
- To give an overview of the history and impact of various cinema collectives in India
- To train the participants in doing collective film screenings and initiate conversations on various issues
- To orient them to be alert about audiovisual content in circulation
- To share films and videos that can be screened in their area of work
Resource People:
Sanjay Kak is an independent documentary filmmaker and writer whose recent work includes the films Red Ant Dream (2013), Jashn-e-Azadi (How we celebrate freedom, 2007), and Words on Water (2002).
A self-taught filmmaker, he writes occasional commentary, and reviews books that he is engaged by. He has been active with the documentary cinema movement in India, and with the Cinema of Resistance project.
Amudhan R. P. is a documentary filmmaker and media activist. Along with local youth, he founded Marupakkam, a media activism group that is involved with making documentaries, organising regular screenings, film festivals and media workshops in and around Madurai. He founded Madurai International Documentary and Short Film Festival in 1998.
Sanjay Joshi is a fulltime Cinema of Resistance activist and also runs a publication house Navarun.
Fathima Nizaruddin is an academic and documentary filmmaker. Her last film, Nuclear Hallucinations (2016) emerged out of her practice-based Ph.D. at the University of Westminster. She is an assistant professor at the AJK Mass Communication Research Centre, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi.
Nakul Singh Sawhney is an documentary filmmaker and founder of the Chal Chitra Abhiyan, an media initiative that trains local community members to report on local issues. CCA primarily produces video-based content including short-document films, news features, and live broadcasts and is one of the groups that has been covering the Kisan Andolan extensively.
Aswathy Senan is an independent researcher, translator and activist based out of Delhi, India. She is a film enthusiast and was the Coordinator of Chalti Tasveerien, a travelling film festival initiative.
Saurabh Kumar is a Multimedia Journalist, and Documentary Filmmaker from Mumbai, Maharashtra. He co-founded Opia Films, an independent production house and Public Bolti, a volunteer-led initiative to highlight disruptions caused by the Coronavirus lockdown. He is deeply involved with ‘Cinema of Resistance’ a cultural initiative that aims to increase access to cinema and art that engages with issues facing civil society.

Contribution towards Programs Costs:
We hope that each participant would contribute an amount of Rs. 3800 /- towards the workshop expenses, inclusive of all on-site workshop costs: boarding, lodging, and all the materials used in the workshop. Need-based partial waivers are available, especially for people from marginalized communities. We have a very limited number of partial waivers, so, please apply for a waiver only if you really need it. Please do remember that there may be others who need it more than you.
